Arts for Children of Toronto, a charity which provides Outreach,
Scholarships and Summer
Camp programs to children in underserved
communities in the GTA, had a sold-out 10th Birthday Bash
on November
27th at the CBC's Barbara Frum Atrium.
The afternoon's festivities featured celebrity appearances
and performances, a children's art show, entertainment
by AFC's young dancers, singers and drummers, a silent
auction and a raffle. This event celebrated ten successful
years of bringing the arts and children together.
CBC Radio One's Andy Barrie emceed the event,
which highlighted performances by Toronto Rap Artist Rikoshay,
storyteller Tabby Johnson and Drumming Master Muhtadi.
Rap Artist K-OS made a personal appearance and
signed CDs for the children in attendance. Staff
Superintendent Mike Federico of the Toronto Police
Services made a special presentation.
Many of AFC's Honourary Board of Advisors were
on hand. They included Director David Cronenberg,
Actors Susan
Coyne and Albert Schultz, Producer David Mirvish, Singer Jackie
Richardson, National Arts Centre's Peter Herrndorf,
Artists Charles Pachter and Michael Snow, Sam
the Record Man's Sam Sniderman, Globe & Mail
Columnist Margaret Wente.
Proceeds from the afternoon went to Arts for Children of
Toronto.
